Big Twin Oversize Front Brake

Most big twins are built with solid front and rear rotors, EBC Brakes offer upgrades to a fully floating rotor and 14inch and 15 inch oversize rotor kits complete with caliper relocation brackets. Upgrading to a full floating set-up will improve braking performance and reduce the chance of rotor warping. Front designs are five button to reduce weight and rear units are beefed up to 10 button design for much heavier abuse and performance. Upgrading to an oversize rotor will improve the aesthetic look of your machine and greatly improve brake modulation together with performance. Offered in a range of hub finishes and plain or contoured rotor designs.

The EBC rotors use a patented SD or “square drive” button system explained in detail in the product review video on this page. The SD system guarantee a lifetime warp free/vibration free braking on your machine.
As with all EBC big twin rotors, all components and hardware are stainless steel but in addition to the high lustre polished stainless steel centre hub, we have applied a black chrome finish to improve the cosmetics.

EBC produce a complete range of floating rotors for modern big twins and some tasty floating rotor conversions for solid units that will improve your brakes and offset the chance of vibration.
Rotors are all made in the UK using stainless steel usually with polished stainless steel centre hubs and are assembled using the unique EBC SD System square drive button technology. EBC front floating rotors feature 5 or 9 button designs whereas rear rotors can include up to 12 drive buttons to provide a sturdy looking and robust unit worthy of its heavy duty application.
Always use new pads when replacing rotors, the use of old or worn pads can cause hot spots or glazing of the rotor and will promote brake fade and loss of brake.

Another new feature of the CE Series brake rotor is the lack of vent holes in the pad sweep area which drag mud and slurry between the pad and rotor and can accelerate rotor wear plus reduce brake effect. Used with the superb EBC X series carbon graphite pads which transmit 60% less heat into your brakes you have the perfect set up for Enduro or Hare scrambles riding.
Plus these rotors have still the lightest weight as they are contour profiled outside and in to shed those useless ounces common which poorly designed and some stock units. Although the standard hub colour for the Vee-Rotor™ program is BLACK, these colour options for Vee-Rotors™ are available by special order options. Historically, red and blue anodized alloy fades badly over a period of 1-2 years in the sunlight.
The special colour application process that we have devised for our Vee rotors uses a “FIX” process that seals the color and minimizes colour loss.
EBC Brakes™ Vee-Rotors™ Replacement Discs are British made discs using German mill rolled precision stainless steel rotor blades, with new VEE profile weight reducing profile mounted onto lightweight alloy centre hubs, using the EBC patented SD square drive button technology.
Square drive buttons resist loosening and prevent vibration common with low cost circular rivets or buttons. Rotor blades are precision ground for fast and perfect pad bed in. All EBC discs are 100% inspected for accuracy and runout.

VMD – Vintage Style
VMD series upgrades those brakes to modern technology
Typically most older Motorcycles that we call classics or Vintage had one-piece solid brake rotors as they were built. These had their drawbacks not least of which is their one-piece construction, they can warp easily.
The EBC VMD series upgrades those brakes to modern technology without a radical change to the looks of your bike and are a direct bolt on with no modifications or brackets, just a clean rotor swap. Original caliper and pads can be retained but we would strongly advise fitting new brake pads. The use of old brake pads on a new rotor is not wise. EBC makes various great compounds to further enhance stopping power shown under our brake pads section
A two-piece stainless steel heat treated and precision ground rotor blade mounted thru stainless steel floating bobbins onto a lightweight aluminium centre hub reduces weight and completely removes all chances of warping and rotor vibration.
